According to a survey conducted in Japan in July 2021, more than four percent of people aged 15 to 19 years old were tipping streamers when using live streaming apps. Tipping during live streams, a practice which has also been called "social tipping," refers to fans giving money to live streamers in the form of a virtual currency, which usually can be bought for regular money.
