Abstention rate in the French presidential election first round 2022, by department
According to figures from the Ministry of the Interior, the abstention rate in the first round of the 2022 presidential elections in France was 26.3 percent, four points higher than in the previous election. Abstention was particularly high in the overseas departments and territories. It exceeded 60 percent in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, French Polynesia, New Caledonia and French Guiana, and 40 percent in others. In metropolitan France, the departments with the highest abstention rates were those in Corsica, and Seine-Saint-Denis.
