French presidential election first round result in relation to registered voters 2022
Reporting the results of the first round of the French presidential elections as a percentage of registered voters instead of as a percentage of votes cast allows for comparison with abstention and blank and invalid votes. Thus, if the incumbent president Emmanuel Macron obtained 27.84 percent of the votes cast, he actually obtained only 20 percent of the votes of those who could vote in this election. It is also rather clear that if abstention was taken into account, it would be the first party in France.
