Methane emissions in the European Union 1990-2020
Methane emissions in the European Union (EU-KP) totaled 419 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e) in 2020 - a decrease of 1.4 percent from the previous year. Since 1990, annual EU-KP methane emissions have been cut by 41 percent. Enteric fermentation is the largest source of methane emissions throughout the EU.
