Climate change strategy was the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priority likely to gain most importance among real estate investors in the U.S. in the next three to five years. In a a global survey conducted in March 2022, the vast majority of respondents (90 percent) forecast that the importance of climate change strategy was to somewhat or significantly increase in the future. Data management and cyber security are also expected to grow in importance according to 75 percent of respondents. Among the many benefits of adopting ESG measures were improved brand and reputation, attracting and retaining tenants, as well as meeting internal goals.
