In 2022, 63 percent of all online ad or pop-up frauds reported by consumers in the United States to the Federal trade Commission (FTC) resulted in financial losses for the victims. Online frauds via social media resulted in monetary losses in 61 percent of the cases, while 57 percent of all frauds conducted via websites and apps led to monetary losses.
