Share of plastic waste management in Europe 2019, by method and region
The method in which European countries treat plastic waste varies across the region. In 2019, European Union OECD members recycled 14 percent of plastic waste and landfilled 37 percent. In comparison, other non-OECD countries had a plastic waste recycling rate of just six percent, with the majority of plastic waste being disposed of at landfill sites.
