Plastics post-consumer waste treatment in Europe (EU27+3) 2020, by type
In 2020, an estimated 29.5 million metric tons of poster-consumer plastic waste was collected across the European Union (EU 27), Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Of this total, 35 percent was recycled. Energy recovery accounted for the largest share of post-consumer treatment, while landfilling accounted for almost a quarter.
