Number of countries by nuclear power status in Asia 2021
In 2021, seven Asian countries were in the process of constructing new nuclear reactors. Among them was China, which in the same year was the second leading nuclear energy producing country worldwide. India, Iran, Pakistan, Japan, and South Korea were also actively building new nuclear power plants as of that year. On the other hand, Taiwan was limiting the national nuclear power production and Kazakhstan phased-out nuclear power in 1998. Armenia was the only Asian country that was not planning to limit or increase its nuclear energy production at that time.
