Latin America: climate change-related disasters 2023

In 2023, there were a total of 43 climate change-related disasters registered across Latin American and the Caribbean. Just one year earlier, the number of disasters reached the highest figure recorded since at least 1990, with a total of 79 events registered across the region. Climate change-related disasters include storms, floods, wet mass movements, extreme temperatures, droughts and fires.
