Countries with highest pay TV penetration rate 2015
The statistic presents countries with the highest pay TV penetration rate worldwide as of 2015. Portugal ranked tenth, with a penetration rate of 90.4 percent. At the top of the list was South Korea, in which the pay TV penetration rate was at 99.5 percent. Furthermore, as of January 2017, there were over 14 million IPTV subscribers in South Korea, up from just one million in October 2009. The number of pay TV subscribers in the whole of the Asia Pacific region is also expected to increase by more than 200 million between 2016 and 2025. As a result, pay TV revenues in the region are forecast to reach 81 billion U.S. dollars in 2025, up from 54 billion U.S. dollars in 2016.
