Mobile gaming apps – additional information
A mobile game refers to any video game that is played on any mobile device including phones, tablets, media players and even calculators. The industry has come a long way since the days of Tetris and Snake.
Mobile gaming is an important sector for the larger video gaming industry both worldwide and domestically. On a global scale, North American mobile games market was the second largest in 2016 based on revenues. In the United States alone, mobile games were calculated to bring in more than 5.5 billion U.S. dollars in revenue to the entire digital games industry in 2016. That was double the amount that was attributed to console gaming that year.
In June 2017, games accounted for ten percent of the time U.S. mobile users spent with apps, which made gaming apps the third most popular category at that time. Furthermore, as of September, more than 24 percent of available apps in the Apple App Store were gaming apps. The latest figures from July 2018, show that GameSpot was the fourth most popular gaming app in the U.S. at that time, based on the number of monthly users.
