Revenue of outdoor advertising companies 2018 Based on revenue, the largest global outdoor advertising company in 2018 was JCDecaux. The French firm reported revenue of more than 4.2 billion U.S. dollars that year. Its next competitor, United States company Clear Channel Outdoor, generated a little over 2.7 billion U.S. dollars in revenue in the same period. Focus Media from China, German Ströer and Lamar from the U.S. closed the top five list.

JCDecaux started in 1964 when its founder invented a concept of financing bus shelters by advertising. That is how the idea of street furniture was born in France. Today this segment is the leading revenue source for JCDecaux, generating more than 1.5 billion euros. However, advertising on and in public transport is not far behind. Europe and Asia Pacific are the primary markets for the company, accounting for the largest chunks of JCDecaux global profit.
Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings is another prominent representative of the OOH advertising market. The company, formerly part of iHeartMedia, separated from the parent in May 2019 and is now trading independently. Clear Channel Outdoor has operations in the Americas, primarily in the United States, and the international segment is focused on Europe, Asia and Latin America. In 2018, the company’s global revenue was 200 million U.S. dollars higher compared to previous year, indicating healthy growth and a promising future.
