This statistic shows data on how often teenagers read books in Germany in 2018 and 2019. In 2019, 34 percent of German teenagers stated to read books daily or several times a week. 28 percent of respondents did so once a month or less often, while 18 percent stated they never read printed books.
JIM is a series of surveys published by the Medienpädagogische Forschungsbund Südwest, which is supported by the Landesanstalt für Kommunikation Baden-Württemberg (LFK) and the Landeszentrale für Medien und Kommunikation Rheinlandpfalz (LMK). The surveys are developed in cooperation with SWR Medienforschung, the Zeitungs Marketing Gesellschaft (ZMG), the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung, the Landeszentralen für politische Bildung Baden-Württemberg und Rheinland-Pfalz and the Stiftung Lesen.
