Founded by Dennis “Chip” Wilson in 1998, the company opened its first store in November of 2000, in Vancouver, British Columbia. A retailer by day and yoga studio by night, the store aimed to be a community center for people to gain the knowledge for a healthier lifestyle.
In 2009, lululemon aimed to expand their brand image with the opening of the first lululemon Lab concept store. Ivivva Athletica was also launched that year, a youth brand founded by lululemon athletica, designed for its younger clientele.
