In contrast, there were only two such establishments to be found on Prince Edward Island. Overall, there were about 640 cyclist specialty stores in the country that year.
Besides a fair share of cycling equipment stores, the Canadian province of Quebec also had a good number of golf equipment and supply stores. There were, however, more than twice as many golf equipment establishments in Ontario in 2023, placing this neighboring province in the lead.
In 2021 and 2022, many people in Canada were hospitalized due to sports-related injuries. Typical injuries among men involved cycling, all-terrain vehicles, as well as skiing and snowboarding. Compared to men, the number of hospitalizations among women was significantly lower. For each of the sexes, however, falling on ice was the most frequent type of injury, for which people had gone to the hospital.
