Ranking of TV stations in Sweden H1 2018, by audience share In the first half of 2018, the public service television channel svt1 was most popular in Sweden. Its audience share amounted to 24.9 percent. With an audience share of 23 percent, the commercial station TV4, belonging to Bonnier Broadcasting, came closely behind.
Online vs. traditional way of watching TV

The audience share of TV channels depends on the total viewing time in a certain time period. In 2018, Swedes spent on average 133 minutes watching traditional television daily. Compared to a decade earlier, this was a decrease of nearly 17 percent. However, using web TV is getting more and more popular. Here again, the online network with the highest viewing time was public service svt Play.

The Swedish TV market

The television market in Sweden is dominated by four companies. Of these, Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT) generated the most revenue in 2017, amounting to almost 12 billion Swedish kronor. Sveriges Television and TV4 Group from Bonnier Broadcasting came in second and third place, respectively. The fourth broadcaster, Discovery Networks Sweden, made roughly 1.1 billion Swedish kronor that year.
