Weekly market share of television broadcasting companies August 2019 In week 31 of 2019, the television broadcasting company with the highest audience share in Denmark was TV 2 Danmark. The channels of the public service organization Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) came second, reaching a share of 35.4 percent of the total viewing time in the country.
The Danish publicly funded television broadcasters

State-owned TV 2 Danmark operates the main channel TV 2, as well as TV 2 NEWS, TV 2 ZULU, TV 2 CHARLIE, TV 2 FRI, TV 2 SPORT and the streaming service TV 2 PLAY. While the regional channels of TV 2 are partly financed by the media license fee and partly by advertising sales, the main channel is not funded in this way anymore. From 2004 onwards, its main revenue sources are ad and subscription sales. On the other hand, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation is fully funded by the TV and radio license fee.

The Danish commercial television companies

Aside from DR and TV 2, the Danish TV market is dominated by two other companies. NENT (short for Nordic Entertainment Group) reached the third highest audience share in week 24 of 2019. Its TV channels are advertising-funded. Discovery Networks Danmark is the fourth most popular TV company in Denmark. It owns 11 commercial television channels and streaming services, such as Kanal 5, and Eurosport.
