The share of Italians who did not visit any museum or exhibition in the previous 12 months experienced a significant annual decrease in 2022, following a sharp increase with the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. While the non-participation rate in the previous 12 months reached nearly 90 percent in 2021, it declined to around 75 percent in 2022.
