The total income of state museums and similar cultural institutions in Italy increased sharply in 2023 over the previous year, recovering from the impact of COVID-19. After declining to under 53 million euros with the onset of the pandemic, the total income of these cultural institutions peaked at nearly 314 million euros in 2023. That year, the total number of visits to state museums in Italy also reached its highest figure to date.
