Share of organic egg production in Finland 2014-2021
In the period from 2014 to 2021, the share of organic egg production increased continuously in Finland. As of 2021, organic egg production accounted for a share of nearly 6.8 percent of total egg production.
In the European Union (EU), a unique code must be printed on all eggs to identify and trace egg production. Organic eggs are marked with a “0” code. According to the EU organic standards, the flock size is set at 3,000 egg-laying hens. Poultry is fed with GMO-free feedm and the use of antibiotics is more carefully regulated than with non-organic production.
