Biotechnology: expenditure on R&D made by non-profit institutions

In 2020, the R&D expenditure on biotechnology-related activities made by non-profit private institutions in Spain amounted to around 5.75 million euros, up from about 5.61 million euros reported a year earlier. R&D spending on biotech activities from non-profit institutions markedly increased in the European country since 2009, when these organizations spent nearly 1.77 million euros on research and development for biotechnology. In comparison, the expenditure on R&D for biotechnology activities from universities reached more than 477 million euros in Spain as of 2020.
