Amid controversy the United States has opened its embassy in Jerusalem on Monday
. U.S. President Donald Trump had decided to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s de facto capital and move America’s embassy in December 2017.
The inauguration of the new embassy, which was moved from Tel Aviv, took place on Monday, which marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of Israel in 1948. The move has enraged Palestinians
who envision East Jerusalem – occupied by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war – as the capital of a future separate Palestinian state.
