Diversity has been trust into the spotlight in the wake of high profile sexual harassment, ethnicity and gender discrimination allegations during the emergence of #MeToo. A multitude of studies have shown that diversity can be a tremendous asset to companies with more diverse teams resulting in better financial results. Considering its importance, Statista and Forbes worked together to compile a list of America's best employers for diversity.
That involved surveying more than 60,000 employees in the U.S. and examining the diversity of top executive teams and boards. It also looked at whether companies have leaders that promote diversity as well as whether a company proactively communicates about the topic.
European multinational software corporation SAP was named America's Best Employer For Diversity in 2020 with a score of 85.89 out of 100. The company states that it has employees from more than 150 different countries and that it fosters a culture of inclusion with a focus on health and well-being. More than a quarter of SAP's leadership is female while it has hired more than 175 workers through the Autism At Work Program. Henry Ford Health System came second with 85.78 while Proctor & Gamble rounded off the top-three with 84.24.
