The UK is sizzling in an unrelenting heat wave. The Met Office has issued an amber alert for heat and that will remain in place until Friday across the east and southeast of the country where temperatures could reach 35°C. Even though the mercury didn't quite soar that high
in London this week, the capital was still hotter than many cities around the world renowned for their high summer temperatures.
The 31°C recorded in London on Monday was higher than the temperature in other European capitals
such as Paris ( 30°C) and Berlin (29°C) that are also basking in a heat wave. It was also warmer than traditionally warm holiday destinations like Nice (28°C)
and Naples (27°C). London was also hotter on Monday than Mumbai, Mexico City and New York.
