Attendance at domestic movies in Costa Rica 2014-2021
In 2021, sales of tickets to domestic films in Costa Rica grew five-fold compared to the previous year, to approximately 50 thousand. Still, the 2021 figure amounted to little more than 40 percent of the 120 thousand tickets to Costa Rican movies sold in 2019, before the pandemic. Costa Rica had the highest box office revenue in Central America in 2021.
