Mexico: attendance at domestic movies 2010-2021
In 2021 – amidst the COVID-19 pandemic – around 4.9 million people in Mexico watched films made in that North American country, down from 35.2 million viewers in 2019 and nearly 8 million in 2020. This represents an annual decline of over 78 percent. Meanwhile, the overall number of films released in Mexico decreased by almost 51 percent between 2019 and 2020.
