Among the three leading European countries, the total value of Christmas spending in 2022 is forecast to be the highest in the United Kingdom (UK) with over 82 billion British pounds. In 2020, when coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and national lockdowns severely impacted Christmas trading, all three countries had experienced decline in the total retail sales value during this period.
