
Approval of HBO Max's removal of 'Gone With The Wind' in the U.S. 2020, by ethnicity
HBO Max’s decision to temporarily withdraw 'Gone With the Wind' due to its negative racial stereotypes was not popular with American adults, with 52 percent of adults surveyed opposed to the removal of the movie. However, when looking at support among ethnic groups, 45 percent of African Americans supported the choice. Despite criticisms of the depictions of Black Americans in the film, 60 percent White adults opposed the action.
