In 2019, consumers in Belgium spent an estimated one and a half billion British pounds online during the Christmas season, while total offline Christmas expenditures nearly reached the eight-billion-pound mark. Due to 2020's coronavirus pandemic, online spending is set to increase significantly, while offline spending is expected to decrease by roughly two and a half billion British pounds.
