Share of children and teenagers asking for money at Christmas in France 2019, by age
The older the children get, the more they want to receive money rather than gifts for Christmas. This was indeed shown in a study conducted among French parents of children in middle and high school in 2019. From the age of 10 to 12, 70 percent of children asked for cash, a proportion that increases with age: 82 percent for 13-14 year olds, 86 percent for 15-16 year olds, and 92 percent for 17-18 year olds.
