Frequency of sexual abuse or harassment towards women in Italy 2020
Over the course of their life, almost three out of four Italian women received sexually-charged remarks from strangers, according to a survey conducted in November 2020. Moreover, 42 percent of respondents reported having endured unwelcome sexual advances multiple times. Another 40 percent declared having experienced instances of more or less obvious sexual harassment, while 35 percent of respondents found themselves in situations where they feared they could become victims of sexual abuse. In this latter scenario, the most common reaction was to run away.
