Around 16 percent of consumers in Japan stated they were consuming health foods certified as "foods for specified health uses" (FOSHU), as revealed in a survey conducted in March 2022.
FOSHU refers to a type of health food that is labeled with scientifically recognized health-promoting effects. Products require the government's approval to display the FOSHU label on the packaging.
