Online searches regarding the TikTok sensation sea shanties, or "#shantytok" have surged worldwide as of January 16th in 2021. The trend was started by Nathan Evans on the 23rd December, when he recorded himself singing the sailor's song "Wellerman".
Nathan Evans is a 26-year-old Scottish postman. He signed a record deal with Polydor and released his debut single on the 22nd January 2021.
