The new Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro form factor is not much different from their predecessors, the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, only being slightly smaller and sleeker. Both smartphones feature the Tensor G2, Google’s own second-generation system-on-chip (SoC) or processor, which improves call quality and Night Mode, and powers the new Cinematic Blur feature for video recording. Speaking of cameras, the new smartphones have a new 4K front camera, and the 7 Pro has, additionally, a new Macro Focus, that delivers Pixel HDR+ photo quality from as close as three centimeters from the subject. As mentioned above, the Google Pixel Watch is Google’s first smartwatch, after acquiring Fitbit in 2021. The device is made of 80 percent recycled stainless steel and has a curved base, which is said to guarantee a precise and accurate data collection. Google Pixel Watch includes Fitbit’s health and fitness features, namely, such as a heart rate sensor and ECG-reading capability, as well as Fitbit’s app. There are two main different models: the version featuring Wi-Fi and GPS, priced at 350 U.S. dollars, and the LTE version, which costs 400 U.S. dollars. Forecasts say that the launch of this new product will foster Google’s establishment in the global wearable and smartwatch markets, currently commanded by Apple.Google Nest
In terms of smart-home products, Google announced new devices under the Google Nest brand. Most of the products mentioned in this launch event are embedded with Google AI and ML, and will support the latest Wi-Fi 6E. Google Nest includes routers, smart speakers, displays, thermostats, smoke detectors, and security systems (smart doorbells, cameras, and locks). Particularly, the new Nest Doorbell uses existing doorbell wires and sends faster alerts, differentiating people, packages, pets, and vehicles. To round it all up, Google announced a long overdue Home app redesign, integrating the Matter 1.0 standard.
