In a recent survey, U.S. consumers seemed unsure about the environmental impact of online shopping compared to in-store purchases. In November 2020, 55 percent of respondents stated that buying products online and having them shipped to their homes had more or less the same impact on the environment, when compared to physical sales. Only 22 percent thought buying online is worse for the environment than buying in-store.
