In 2015, Japan's Kinki Metropolitan Region had the longest average transfer times for railway passengers, with 4.4 minutes during peak hours and 3.8 minutes during off-peak hours. The longest transfer time in the Kinki Area was in Osaka's Umeda Station from the JR Tokaido Main Line to city-operated Tanimachi Line, with an average of 9.2 minutes (peak hour).
