Austria: labor productivity of the automotive industry 2010-2021
Labor productivity in the automotive sector in Austria as measured in production value per employee fell significantly year-on-year between 2019 and 2020. The beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 led to a reduction in labor productivity by 14 percent. Productivity recovered to close to pre-pandemic levels in 2021, driven by an increase in production and a further decrease in employment in the sector.
