U.S. spirits' unit sales by brand 2019

In 2019, Smirnoff Vodka accounted for volume sales of over two and a half million cases in the United States, making it the leading brand of spirits in terms of unit sales in the country. Selling almost one and a half million cases that year, Captain Morgan stood in third place.

Founded in 1997, Diageo is a British alcoholic beverage company, which now owns a selection of spirit brands, including Smirnoff, Baileys, Captain Morgan, and J&B. In 2018, Diageo was among the top 50 fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies, with net sales amounting to just over 16 billion U.S. dollars. This put the company in 24th place, right between Reckitt Benckiser and General Mills.

In the United States, Diageo plc was the leading supplier of scotch whiskey, as well as vodka in 2018. The alcoholic beverage company accounted for about 30 percent of all scotch whiskey, and 20 percent of all vodka volume sales in the United States that year. Additionally, Diageo was one of the top U.S. suppliers for rum and gin.
