Of online car service users who use carpooling in China, slightly more than a quarter use car pooling apps one to three times a week and slightly less than a quarter use the service between one to three times a month. Around 36 percent of online car service users use carpooling, but taxi hailing far exceeds carpooling demand as 84 percent of users hail taxis. Because of this, taxi service continues to grow and there are ever increasing numbers of taxis on the streets, but other services such as carpooling are innovating beyond the use of traditional taxis and the private automobile. The main reasons users choose carpooling is because it is less expensive, because they have a coupon or when users find it difficult to hail a taxi. It has also been found that close to 27 percent of carpooling users use it during the evening rush hour between 17:00 and 19:00 and use it for commuting purposes. Presently, Didapinche leads all other carpooling apps in terms of monthly active users. However, carpooling apps will need to improve their response time in order to increase usage. While 47 percent of carpool users get a response between five and 10 minutes, 34 percent have to wait between 10 to 30 minutes.
