Revenue of Aldi Group in Germany 2017-2022

Total Aldi Group revenues in Germany amounted to around 32.1 billion euros in 2022, having shown steady growth during recent years. Aldi is a popular chain of German discounter supermarkets. Aldi Süd supermarkets are located in the south of Germany, while Aldi Nord populates the north.

The Aldi Group generated the highest revenue compared to other discounter supermarkets in Germany, such as Lidl, Netto and Penny. Aldi also outstripped its discounter competitors in terms of customer numbers, with 46 million people having shopped there in 2019. Though store numbers were falling in recent years, Aldi still boasts more than 4,100 branches in Germany.

Discounters’ place in food retail

Based on recent figures, the German food retail sector generated over 125 billion euros in revenue. Of this amount, discounter supermarkets made up 43.1 percent.
