Brazil: mobile phone subscriptions 1998-2018, by technology

Throughout recent years, the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) standard has been becoming rare in Brazil's mobile telephony segment, while the third and fourth generations (known as 3G and 4G) of wireless mobile telecommunications have been prevailing. In 2018, there were nearly 130 million 4G subscribers in the South American country, up from less than two million recorded in 2013. However, the number of mobile phone subscriptions in Brazil has been decreasing lately.
