Roasted & ground coffee: most popular brands Germany 2018

Germans were mainly fans of trademark roasted and ground coffee brands, though almost 12.6 million coffee lovers preferred the German brand Jacobs Krönung in 2018. The company traces the beginning of its history back to 1895.

Smell the coffee

The leading coffee importer for Germany is Brazil, with around 382,642 tons imported in 2019. Other important partners include Vietnam and Honduras. Roasted coffee or ground coffee from a filter machine remain the most popular drinks among caffeinated and tea beverages consumed in Germany, along with tea from a teabag and coffee made from coffee pads. Correspondingly, the most frequently used methods for preparing coffee are making filter coffee and using pads or capsules in a coffee maker.

With coffee clearly being enormously popular in Germany, how does the nation compare to the rest of Europe? Among EU countries, Germany leads the way by far in terms of coffee imports. It is followed by Italy and then Belgium.
