This statistic shows the number of pay TV subscriptions in Western Europe in 2016, and a projection for 2017 and 2022, broken down by platform. According to the forecast, the Western European pay TV market will grow in the next years. The number of pay IPTV subscribers will grow from about 28 million in 2016 to more than 36 million in 2022, while the number of pay satellite subscribers will fall by approximately one million during the same period. Digital cable TV is expected to grow by more than seven million, and will remain the second most popular platform after FTA DDT. Analog cable TV is projected to decrease dramatically, from eight million subscribers in 2016 to 0.5 million subscribers in 2022.
