In 2020, Venice was the province in the Italian region of Veneto recording the highest income of State museums, monuments, and archaeological areas. However, the revenue of such cultural institutions dropped sharply over the previous year, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In 2019, the income of State museums and similar institutions in Venice amounted to over 3.2 million euros, while it reached around 973 thousand euros in 2020 Meanwhile, in the provinces of Belluno and Verona all the State cultural attractions had free entrance, thus resulting in an income of zero euros in the considered years.
