Netherlands: gross profit margin sports and outdoor stores 2016-2020

Over the past few years, the gross profit margin as a percentage of the revenue of sports and outdoor stores consistently amounted to just under 40 percent. When looking at the year-on-year change in sales turnover of shops selling recreational goods in the Netherlands, yearly turnover declined from 2009 on. In 2019, the turnover decreased with roughly three percent.

Sports and outdoor stores includes the following:

Water sports products: yachts, motor boats, canoes, rowing boats, surfboards, scuba diving products, water sports clothes, components and accessories for water sports products.
Sports products: football, skiing, ice skating, tennis rackets, home trainers etc. Also including stores in sports prizes, cups and medals as well as sports stores in combination with sports clothes or footwear where the share of revenue of the individual product groups should be less than 70 percent of the revenue.
Camping products: camping tents, camping components and accessories. Excluding caravans and folding camping trailers.
