In 2022, primary energy production in France was mainly in the form of nuclear energy, with around 893 terawatt-hours of energy generated. The second largest share of primary energy produced in the country came from renewable sources, namely solid biomass, hydraulic, and wind energy. Energy production from fossil fuels has declined over the last two decades to less than 10 terawatt-hours.
The total primary energy produced in France amounted to approximately 1,250 terawatt-hours that year.
