This statistic shows the leading police forces in the United Kingdom (UK) by number of police officers, as of March 31, 2018. The Metropolitan Police which covers the Greater London area is by far the largest police force in this statistic. With around 17 thousand officers, the Scottish police has the second largest force in terms of officers numbers, followed by Northern Ireland with around 6.8 thousand. The West Midlands police force which has around 6.5 thousand officers is responsible for the urban area surrounding the large city of Birmingham, while Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire are centered around Manchester and Leeds respectively.

This statistic shows the leading police forces in the United Kingdom (UK) by number of police officers, as of March 31, 2018. The Metropolitan Police which covers the Greater London area is by far the largest police force in this statistic. With around 17 thousand officers, the Scottish police has the second largest force in terms of officers numbers, followed by Northern Ireland with around 6.8 thousand. The West Midlands police force which has around 6.5 thousand officers is responsible for the urban area surrounding the large city of Birmingham, while Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire are centered around Manchester and Leeds respectively.
