Number of magistrates court cases in England and Wales 2012-2019

The magistrates court of England and Wales had approximately 375.6 thousand new cases in the third quarter of 2019, while in the same quarter the proceeding for 380.7 thousand court cases were closed. As a result of closed cases outnumbering new ones, the number of outstanding cases declined to 287.7 thousand, compared with 292 thousand in the previous quarter.
