Over the past years, online video ads have really taken off in the United States. In June, 183 million Americans watched some kind of online video, providing a huge opportunity for advertisers. As a consequence, the number of video ads viewed by American internet users almost doubled in the past 12 months and surpassed 20 billion for the first time in June.
Google alone served more than 3 billion video ads to the 158 million U.S. users of its video platform Youtube. Online video ads reached more than half of the American population in June, with every viewer watching an average of 121 ads during the month.
